Anchorage City Tour
3 hours or 5 hours
You can see a lot of Alaska in this narrated coach tour of Anchorage, from floatplanes headed to remote parts of the state for work or play, to an urban salmon run, to the site of homes demolished in North America’s largest earthquake — to maybe even some wildlife along the way.

Both the 3- and 5-hour tours include stops at Hood Lake, Earthquake Park, Ship Creek and the Alaska Wildberry Company.

Hood Lake: The busiest airport in the U.S., Hood Lake boasts 800 takeoffs or landings per day in summertime. Visitors always want to take pictures of the Alaska Bush floatplanes taking off and landing.Watch as thousands of Alaskans and visitors head out to remote cabins, for work and play.

Earthquake Park: The quake after which this Anchorage park was named was the largest ever in North America (9.2 magnitude), also known as the 1964 Good Friday earthquake. The event killed 131 people and demolished many buildings, including beautiful homes that used to stand at what is now the Earthquake Park overlook, a popular Anchorage viewpoint. Read interpretive signs and enjoy the natural beauty of today’s park, which includes a Cook Inlet view and access to the Coastal Trail. If you’re lucky, we may even see a moose nearby.

Ship Creek tour with Alaska Timberwolf Journeys & ToursShip Creek: Salmon fishing in the city? Walk along what has got to be the country’s most unusual salmon fishing hotspot. In the middle of Anchorage, local Alaskans (and visitors, too) fish for salmon on their office breaks.(You may decide to come back!) King and silver salmon runs occur during June and August.

Alaska Wildberry Company: Experience a taste of Alaska. Tour Alaska Wildberry Co.’s kitchens to observe the production of jams, jellies, sauces and chocolates and indulge in samples of products made from berries harvested by hand, which form the heart of their chocolate-covered confections. The Alaska Wildberry Company is also home of the world’s largest chocolate waterfall, containing 3,400 pounds of melted chocolate that cascades from 20 feet in the air.

The five-hour tour also includes:
Anchorage tour - moosePotters Marsh: The Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge at Potters Marsh is a favorite area stopover for migrating birds and local people, too, who enjoy it as a hotspot for spotting wildlife, including eagles, moose and spawning salmon. A boardwalk takes you over the marsh. Signs tell about the wildlife that thrives in the area.

Lunch at Sourdough Mining Co. Stop over for lunch on your own at this replica of an old millhouse.
