Iditarod Tour Day One: Guests arrive and check into the Millennium Hotel. Evening group meeting. Check out the many festivities during the ongoing annual Fur Rendezvous with: Native Arts Market, Theater Show, Winter Carnival Activities, Snow Sculpture Competition, Snowshoe Softball Matches and Firework Displays while the cities gears up for the Iditarod Race. Overnight: Anchorage. Day Two: Scenic cruise along Turnagain Arm.We will travel to the town of Girdwood with a stop at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (www.alaskawildlife.org) to see moose, bears and other wildlife. We will also stop at the Alyeska Resort for a ride on their Tram, taking us to an observation deck 2,300 feet up Mt. Alyeska for an incredible viewing opportunity (bring your cameras). Visit Portage Glacier for a photo stop. Return to Millennium Hotel. Available options (added cost): Dine at the Double Musky, one of the top 10 restaurants in the U.S. After dinner, return to Millennium Hotel. Day Three: Morning - You have your choice of three options: Option 1: 3-Hour City Sightseeing Tour (included)
You’ll explore the historical and scenic points of interest, followed
by a visit of the Alaska Native Heritage Center, with a variety of interactive
displays, shows, and five separate culture galleries about the different
Native groups from Alaska. Attend the Mushers Banquet in the evening. Day Five: Morning departure to the official restart of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Willow. Stop at Iditarod Headquarters for photos and shopping — or another chance to be a part of the Race by working as a dog handler. Optional: Bring your skis (or rent a pair) and enter the Tour of Anchorage.
